MARY CATHERINESAUER

Mary Catherine Sauer is the mother of four, longtime resident of Guilford County, lifelong Republican, and advocate for quality education for all children.  

Mary Catherine graduated from Page High School and Virginia Tech where she met her husband, Mike.  Together they have four children.  Steven graduated as valedictorian of Northern Guilford High School and is currently a senior at the Air Force Academy.  Annie graduated as valedictorian of Northern and is currently a sophomore at Auburn.  Laura is a junior at Northern, and Robert is a freshman at Piedmont Classical High School.

Mary Catherine started her involvement in education as a tutor and academic advisor for Academic Development Services.  When her children started school she became involved with the PTO Board at Greensboro Academy.  She has served as a PTO board member, PTO president, and PTSA president at Northern Guilford High School.  

Upon seeing the waiting list at Greensboro Academy grow and being convicted that more parents deserved the same choices she had, Mary Catherine founded Cornerstone Charter Academy, a Greensboro charter school with 800 students in its fourth year of operation.  She went on to found Piedmont Classical High School (PCHS) which opened with 130 students in August 2015. ​
