For GUILFORD COUNTY school board
Equity – We need to do a better job of providing opportunities to all of our students. What we have been doing has not worked. Significant racial and economic gaps still exist in spite of efforts to close them. The disparity between the high performing schools and the low performing schools seems to be getting bigger. It is time to find a new and effective way to address these issues before we lose an entire generation.
Accountability – As officials entrusted with tax-payer money, it is the board’s responsibility to be as financially responsible and transparent as possible. That includes being careful how we allocate funds and how we commit to programs that will have to be funded in the future. This is YOUR money. When the school board is wrapped up in budgets and special interests, they lose sight of why we are here. We're here to make sure our children have a quality education. As a mother of four, I will make sure that we put our students first, above the special interests and the politicians in Raleigh.
Common Sense - We need someone on the school board who will ask the tough questions. We need someone on the school board who will demand better data so that the board can make better decisions, and work hard to find better solutions to often complex problems. If we keep electing the same officials year after year, if we keep doing the same things year after year, we should not be surprised that we keep getting the same results...year after year.
